A gap of several months have passed since #38 riprap blog. It is now time to start the interior work. The architect and my wife have spent many hours looking at styles and colors for each room.

We have a structure with windows, rough plumbing and electrical. The next step is choosing the flooring, paint colors, bathroom design and the VERY difficult kitchen plan. This is where my role as project manager is being truly tested. Numerous visits to design centers and material suppliers with the wife and the architect revealed to me that I was out of my element. Therefore, I am now relegated to chauffeur status with the occasional role of giving the 3rd nod to a design decision.

Flooring design approved and materials ordered. Lalang, the architect, has taken over the project manager role and is very knowledgeable of all construction processes through her experience as a construction manager in Manila. With the pictures in this section, note the sand/cement subfloor fill that is .under the tile. This allows for leveling, expansion and a moisture barrier. I believe this mix was a 4 sand to 1 cement mix and a small amount of water.

A eye opening part of this project was the amount of sand and cement needed to install the approximately 2,000 sq ft tile floor.
