#41: Don’t you want to see me crawl across the floor for you.

  • A clarification of the last blog. The term “Dodong” is a word commonly used in the Philippines to describe a younger man. Dodong can be a formal nickname for an individual but the shortened term “dong” is often used to address a young man. Inday, “day (dye)”, is the female equivalent for a younger girl.

The flooring completed and it was an eye opening experience for a stick build contractor. We touched on the unlimited options available for styles and colors and the approach I followed was to let the wife and architect decide (hence the lyrics “dont you want…”).

The base under the tiles consisted approximately 3" of a sand/cement mostly dry mix that will act as a vapor barrier for the floor. Imagine if I would have had a 8' ceiling and quickly lost 4". Luckily we have a 10' ceiling.

We used the same wood look VFP for all the bedrooms. Installation was much the same with only the transition strip needing some fine adjustments.

So with the flooring complete ……….wait! Did I say complete? Not sooo fast. Just this last weekend we were installing some some shower fixtures and ran some water only to find out the floor tiles were laid with inadequate slope for water drainage. Have to bust up a few and replace. By the way, all the showers had the same issue.

Good time for a “bahala na.” A tagalog term loosely meaning “whatever”.
