Nipa Hut and Beyond
2 min readJan 5, 2024

The old original Nipa Hut that was the inspiration for the title of the blog has served its purpose and is now being replaced — hence “Beyond”.

The pics show the original nipa hut and the last one is the new nipa hut that is housing the water storage tank and pump. We are serviced with water from the local municipality. The water supply operates from around 6 am-9pm everyday. I decided to add a 2000 liter storage tank and a booster pump to allow for water 24/7. That is housed inside the new nipa hut. The booster pump requires electricity and sometimes there is a brownout or interruption of electricity causing the interruption of the booster pump. If this occurs, I turn off the valve supplying water from the municipality to the storage tank and open the valve that directly feeds the house from the municipality. This still leaves a water supply problem during the nighttime hours so I will need a small generator to power the pump. I have hesitated purchasing one because I don’t know whether to get a small one to handle emergency pumps or buy a larger one to handle multiple A/Cs, ref, etc. I would get a larger one but I am debating going full solar with battery storage, etc. More later.

Current view of Nipa Hut Beyond.

NOTE to everyone: I have spent over $200,000 USD on this house over the last 4 years and everyone wants to hang at the $200 Nipa Hut. Did I tag this blog correctly or what.

Ill try to get the next blog out in a few days.
