With the new path leading up to the front door completed, George’s words are something to heed.

Its sooo nice to be able to come into the house without mud and rocks clinging to the slippers. Like every decision made so far it was a negotiation between the wife and me — 4' or 5' width, curved or 90 degree, colored concrete, etc. After settling on a design it only took the guys one day to layout and set rebar and one day to pour.

The grade and base was a nice visual of what we will eventually have leading up to the house. The one mistake our guys made was not using a straight edge along the straight run and better staking on the bends. This will require additional concrete sawcutting. A couple of the guys thought that was being too picky — well…

I have never seen concrete mixed so wet. I know its easier to work with and I have tried to explain the cement curing process, etc, but they still do it this way and since every piece of concrete work in the Philippines is done this way with little damage I let it go.
